Many people now do part of their work in an AI tool such as Codex or Claude. Those tools are good at writing, reading code, and reasoning. They do not know your company’s policies, project history, or internal guides.
askneutron connects that knowledge to them through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You sign in once, and your AI tool can search the same company knowledge you use in Neutron, within the same access.
What MCP gives your AI tool
MCP is an open protocol that lets an AI client call tools on a remote server. askneutron runs an MCP server. When you add it to Codex or Claude as a remote connection, the client sees a small set of tools:
neutron_searchsearches the company knowledge that you, the signed-in person, can access.neutron_fetchtakes a citation ID from a search result and returns more of that source. It returns the same version of the source that search used.
The tool decides when to call each one. A typical flow is a search, then a fetch when the result needs more context, then an answer that cites the source.
You sign in as yourself
The connection uses OAuth. When you add askneutron to your client, you sign in to your askneutron account and approve the connection. From then on, every search runs as you.
The AI tool does not get a shared key with wide access. It sees what you can see in Neutron: the sources your organization has shared with you, and nothing else.
You can review the apps connected to your account and revoke one at any time.
Answers you can check
Search results come back with citations, the same way they do in Neutron. When Codex or Claude uses a result, you can ask it to show the source, or it can call neutron_fetch to read more.
This is useful for tasks that mix company context with other work:
“Draft a reply to this customer email. Follow our refund policy.”
“Check this config change against our deployment checklist.”
“Summarize what our onboarding guide says about laptop setup.”
In each case the AI tool does the writing, and askneutron supplies the company facts with a source you can open. For more on how citations work, read how cited answers work.
Read-only access
The connection reads company knowledge. It does not change anything in your tools. Searches and fetches run as you, and your AI tool gets back text and citations.
Setting it up
You need an askneutron account in an organization with knowledge sources connected. Add askneutron as a remote MCP server in Codex or Claude, sign in, and approve the connection. Then ask a question that needs company knowledge.
The MCP developer page has the server address and client setup steps. If you would rather build company search into your own product, the hosted API offers search and chat over HTTP.
